I am writing to compliment the hard work Chris and Josh did by spending almost 7 hours at my home fixing my AC system on April 3rd 2017. I initially signed up for the USA plan for my house and field technician Chris came out to service my unit. Upon looking at the unit he discovered the coil inside the house was leaking and needed replacement which he scheduled for me on the 3rd of April. So April 3rd, Chris and another technician Josh came out to perform the service and repair; however, they discovered the outside unit needed repair too. Again they spent a long time at my home fixing the unit inside and outside. They were both very informative and professional. I was pleased with the effort and work they did as my AC works great now.

Good morning, Morgan Bayse came to my house to fix a rather unusual problem. I was hearing a chirp every fifteen minutes from the inside air handler for my mini split heat pump. Morgan is a very personable person and quickly checked my system for proper operation. He made numerous trips up and down on his step ladder and outside to check the compressor unit. After calling back to the office, he powered the system off and on as suggested. Finally, after standing on the step ladder with his ear against the air handler, he realized the chirping sound was actually coming from a Verizon Fios box hidden behind a desk. He even crawled on the floor to verify that the Fios box was in fact the culprit. Morgan just wouldn’t quit until he found the problem. I really respect people like Morgan. Morgan Bayse is a definite asset to your company. I would gladly have him return to my house for any future work.
We have a 2-zone HVAC system here. For both units it’s $400 for the year to come out as I need and plus they have 2 maintenance visit over the course of the year. They made some recommendations that I’m going to follow up on before we get to the air conditioning season. So far everything has been working. If they make a recommendation it’s being done with my best interest at heart instead of generating more business for themselves. That means a lot. They came & did a great job. They found that the compressor which had been installed by a different company was still under warranty, so instead of having to pay whatever a new compressor costs, $8000, we were able to get it installed for just the cost of labor. The technician went and got the serial number off the compressor, again, they had not installed it, but he researched it and found out it was still under warranty. It had a 10-year warranty so that was able to be replaced for free. I can’t think of any other air conditioning company I’ve had for the past years would have ever done that. They’ve won my loyalty. I’ve signed a maintenance agreement with them, so they’re servicing both the upstairs unit and now the downstairs unit as well. We have a 2-zone HVAC system here. My wife called around 8:30 PM last night and was offered a service call but decided we could wait until morning. I received a 7:25 follow up call to schedule service and we made an 8 AM appointment. The technicians (Josh and Kyle) arrived on time, were very friendly and professional. I needed an igniter for the furnace and Josh had one in the van. Needless to say 45 minutes later we were signing paperwork. Not only did they fix my issue but they also recommended some safety related work that I will have done. I have used Kellam mechanical for numerous services at different homes, and I have always been more than pleased which is why I keep going back. My new home was under warranty with another heating and air company, and I was not impressed with the service. They also did not do electrical work, so I called Kellam. Not only did they come in at the same price, but they were twice as fast for the same job which translates to more money in my pocket. I’ve been a homeowner for over 20 years; Kellam did work on my first home, and they will do work on my last. 1/25/17I highly recommend Kellam Mechanical. On Monday morning I called and spoke with Scott Kellam telling him we had a water heater that just started leaking water. Scott had me send him photos of the water heater by cell phone. Tuesday morning Garrett and Hunter were at our home before the appt time. Both were very professional, knowledgeable and did a great job of replacing the broken water heater in a short amount of time. Thank you Scott, Garrett and Hunter for taking of our needs so quickly especially since my husband is having serious health issues. Your quick response is greatly appreciated. 1/9/17I have to say the folks at Kellam Mechanical are like superheroes!! We woke up in this frozen tundra with our heater not working. The ignitor switch had gone bad. After our friend recommended this company, we called them right away. They were able to get out here today, and once our technician arrived, he had our heat pumping in less than an hour! He was polite, friendly, and professional. He showed us exactly the issue, and discussed some other issues to watch for with the age of our unit. He gave us a few pointers, and just like that, heat! A few months down the road my 6 year daughter who suffers from asthma just couldn’t stop coughing at night. Kellam Mechanical recommended a UV filter be installed in my HVAC system that would greatly improve our air quality. Less than 3 days later her cough is gone. Kellam responded promptly and arrived at the appointment on time, which was great since I was coming in from out of town. Thomas diagnosed the problem after a few checks. Not low refrigerant as I suspected, but a faulty thermostat. I did not need to waste money on a freon charge that was not needed. Good job!

Our heat pump system quit working entirely during the night of Nov 24/25th. Jerry came to look at it when we called the next day. He worked until nearly 9 PM trying to fix it, quitting only when we suggested it would be okay to stop then and come back the next morning to finish. We really appreciated his dedication to the job since we didn’t even have emergency heat. As an old Navy guy, I give Jerry a “Bravo Zulu” for a job well done finding and fixing the problem.
These folks are amazing. I have a house and a condo. You have to get the maintenance contract. I call anytime on any day and they respond. The technicians are professional, on time and self sufficient. They will call to remind you of appointments, they keep excellent notes and they don’t over charge. could not be happier with the service and price!

My home is 24 years old and my Heat Pump System definitely needed to be replaced. I did a lot of research to find the system that I wanted and how I wanted it installed. I contacted several companies for a quote with my specific requirements. ONLY Kellam answered all my questions and ONLY Kellam made recommendations for improving upon my request. The install team showed up ready to work and cared about my home as they removed the old and installed the new. My first Electric Bill, a full 30 day cycle after receiving the new systems, was 1/2 the smallest bill I have seen in the last 5 years. The Kellam Team even submitted my registration and warranty paperwork and even provided the paperwork to submit for a rebate from the electrical company. I have dealt with a lot of contractors in the last 23 years and Kellam Mechanical is by far the best team I have ever worked with.

Two years ago our large air conditioning unit for our downstairs went out right in the middle of the summer. Thankfully, we had an annual contract with Kellam Mechanical, which is particularly helpful when it seems like everyone is having problems with their air conditioners. They came out and installed a new unit the next day. We recently relocated to Florida, but are renting our Va. Beach house out for the summer. We just had people from Canada check in, and our this time our upstairs air conditioner unit quit working. I called Kellam Mechanical, frantic, as that was the week that Virginia Beach had 100 temperatures. They were booked solid for a week. But once again, realizing our desperation, Kellam came through in a pinch, and had their guys out the very next day to install a new unit for us! As an aside, during their semi-annual inspection, they told us that the unit probably wouldn’t last much longer, but we were hoping to get one more summer out of it. Everyone at Kellam Mechanical is professional, extremely knowledgeable, and their level of customer service is absolutely top notch! I highly recommend Kellam Mechanical to EVERYONE for their heating and air conditioning needs. Also, be sure to get an annual contract – it is very cost-effective, and their techs come out twice a year to take a look at all your air conditioning and heating components, check air filters, etc. I HIGHLY recommend Kellam Mechanical!!
John – I got my bill for the use for July 15 – August 15 for 866 kWh. I expected it to be between $150 and $200 due to the extreme heat and humidity and multiple days with heat advisories. I was very pleasantly surprised that my bill was only $104 for that timeframe – I even called Dominion VA Power to verify that it was correct. So, I am very happy with my HVAC system and appreciate you coming out and adjusting the settings. Thank you and your staff for the great customer service and getting me set up with the right system for my floor plan to maximize the efficiency. It’s a relief to know the electric bills are going to be affordable even in extreme weather.
A/C went out during a very hot spell and I was able to get an appointment with them the very next day. Lisa Ann was very nice over the phone making the appointment. Mike arrived the next day within the appt. window and spent a couple hours checking things out. He discovered the problem and explained everything to me. The system was under warranty through another company so we ended up calling them to do the rest of the repairs but he was able to get us up and running and cool until the other company could come out. He was very professional and I trusted what he said- didn’t try to charge me for some outrageous repairs. Good trustworthy company.

We had a contract with Dominion for our heat pumps and our water heater. When our heat pump stopped cooling we called them. We had to pay Dominion $50 for the service call. They sent out someone from a company I had never hear of. The service tech said we had two leaks and 0 Freon. He then left and said he would have to turn the service order in to be approved. They left us with no air conditioning in the 90 degree hear. Two days later they said it was denied because the unit was too old. We have been paying on this contract for over a year, just to find out our unit was not even eligible! We called Kellam Mechanical and they came out in a timely manner. The unit was NOT empty of Freon. There were no leaks. A filter was missing that caused a buildup of oil and created a stricture so that the Freon was not flowing as it should be. Everything was fixed and we have a cool house again. I would definitely call Kellam from now on. The service tech was friendly, courteous and kept us informed of each step he needed to take and what the cost would be.

We needed to replace two A/C units and air handlers. John came out, measured the volume of each room and verified the insulation. We then discussed the alternatives. He did not push any one of them but did provide the Pros and Con of each one and the price of each up front. The contract was very clear as to what was covered. Their people showed up when they said they would. The downstairs unit installation did not pass the city inspectors first inspection and I was not satisfied with the insulation work around the air handler (minor problem). We notified Kellam and they were out immediately to correct the problems. Initially for the upstairs unit, we asked Kellam to add refrigerant. Kellam also changed out the capacitor to try to give us another year out of this unit. This worked for a few days but then it became obvious a new unit was needed (the old one being 20 years old). John came over again and we discussed the options. We selected a slightly larger unit and John gave us a rebate for 60% of the cost of trying to repair the old one. As we were approaching the hot summer weather, we wanted to get the unit replaced as soon as possible. They came out when we had asked them to the installation was completed in one day and everything was done correctly. Overall, I was very pleased with the product, price and service and I felt I was treated very fairly. I would definitely call Kellam again!

The Laundry Pro works great! I wanted to test it out for a couple of weeks before following up. The clothes are clean and just feel better. This past weekend we were able to put it to the test with Chris’ soccer uniform. With some pretreatment all the mud stains came right out of his shorts and jersey. The washer machine even seems cleaner. Bottom line, It works as good as you said it would! Thanks again for recommending this product!

When I first heard about the Laundry Pro, I thought to myself, “this is too good to be true”.
I had to research this product. I read all the info I could about it. I googled it, I read reviews, and asked friends who have used it themselves. All were good.
I thought this will surely pay for itself in no time. I have two teen boys and it seems laundry is never ending. The cost of detergent for me a month is at least $40, not including bleach, and softener.
I was convinced, I wanted one.
I have been using it for two weeks now, and I honestly love it. I just start the washer add clothes and go.
The clothes come out fresh and clean. There is no soap build up, I don’t need to rerun the rinse cycle, I don’t need to wait to do laundry because I’m out of detergent again.
The clothes come out of the dryer soft and in my opinion better than when I used detergents.
I tell everyone about it, It really works, do your own research, you’ll want one too.

Mr. Wagner did an excellent job of servicing the unit this morning. Using the garden hose, he cleaned the entire inside of the outside unit and removed a large amount of dirt. Our son’s sensitive skin has improved since we started using the Laundry Pro. Laundry is much less of a chore for our family now. Our towels are softer today than when they were new. We feel good that we are not putting chemical back in to the environment by cleaning our clothes.
I was hesitant to try Laundry Pro because it uses no soap. However, I am now excited about the savings from laundry detergent expenses. My towels come out clean and fresh with no odors. I am a true believer after washing my teenage son’s dirty white shoes that came back to life brighter and almost looking new!
We had our system installed in 2009. After many service techs from other companies just came and put a bandage on the problem or told us to get a new system, we called Kellam. We have had nothing but exceptional service / advice / maintenance and when required replacement of major & minor components by your sales reps / service & installation technicians including most recently John Nimmo. Over the years I have used other heating and ac companies. I was told by them they would be here at a certain time and almost always they would show up late and their attitude was not professional and their attitude was as if oh well Iâ€™m here what do you need. Enough of the bad, now for the good, no great. From the very first time I called them for service work to start with, the persons who answer the call at Kellam Mechanical for service have great attitudes. They ask me about my needs and make sure I am taken care of. They make sure to call me days before the appointment and the day before. They even go so far as to call to tell me the tech is on the way. Every person/tech shows up in a clean work truck. As they come to the door in their left hand is a pair of shoe floor carpet protectors as they stand at the threshold. They always put their right hand out to shake to show respect. When they have looked over the services to be done they take the floor protectors off, come back, put them back on and start their service. I have them here at least twice a year, for winter service and summer service. There has been a fair amount of different service techs here over the years and each one of them has the same high quality drive and commitment to my needs and investment of my home. As they go up into the attic to check air flow and heating elements, some bits of insulation do come out of the attic access. They make sure to clean their ladder off, themselves off and then clean up all as if they were not there, one more example of their quality. Last year 2014 during snow magedon, some of the snow (oh by the way I am disabled) had slid off the roof and onto the ac, heat pump causing it to make noise. I shut it off and called Kellam Mechanical. Now I have no heat you remember how cold it was. From the time I called, within 2 hours there was a tech here to clear the ice and snow from the unit and to inspect the unit for damage taking the side panels off, a detailed exam of all the blades. I forgot to mention when they do the service work in the attic, they also always go to the ac, heat pump unit and they always use the gauges to make sure my investment is operating at its best. They also change out the two air filters each time. Since I have Kellam Mechanical they will be the only ones to ever come in my house.
Mr Jerry Wagner is a true professional. When it was time for my service call on both of my AC/Heat pump units, I was told that I would have another technician since Mr. Wagner was recently promoted. I requested and got Mr. Wagner to come out and service my units.
As usual he did an outstanding job with the 25 Point Inspection of the entire AC/Heat pump system in my home. My only concern is that my system is relatively new and on the work sheet it is listed as “Good” for the condition of both units. Other than that Kellam has been servicing my home system for the past 13 years and I am pleased with the service and the professionalism of Mr. Wagner.

Chris came to my house this morning for a routine service (annual) service call. He was very polite, clean & thorough. We had a problem with our geothermal heating / air conditioning system which was intermittent and very difficult to diagnose. Jerry was very persistent and determined to solve the problem, which he did. Jerry has also done routine maintenance on our system, and he is always prompt, efficient, courteous, and friendly.
Kellam Mechanical was recommended to us by a good friend, and we couldn’t have been more pleased with our first experience. They were able to get a tech out same day, fixed the problem honestly and at a great cost. If service is always this pleasant and wonderful, they’ve got lifelong fans!
Kellam Mechanical found a better repair option than replacing the furnace. When I asked them for a quote on the furnace, the sales person said let’s check the warranty on the heat exchanger on a 12 year old furnace. They found out that the heat exchanger was under warranty, so they found the part and came out on Monday to replace it. When they pulled the heat exchanger, there was nothing wrong with it. They charged me only a couple of hundred dollars for the work, so I signed up for their service program for the coming year. Out of three companies I called, they were the only ones to check the warranty. We just moved into our house, so this was welcome news.

9/26/15Peter cleaned out clogged drain line for air conditioner and removed from secondary drain pan. It went spectacular. Technician Peter was out to my home within 1 1/2 hr of placing a service request. Technician quickly diagnosed the problem, found the drain line and expeditiously resolved the issue. Peter was professional, knowledgeable and courteous. He took time to explain what he needed to do. I am extremely pleased with the company’s work efficiency and personnel.

John Gualdoni came out on a Thursday or Friday to develop a proposal after a thorough inspection of what we had currently and heard our concerns as to current state as well as what we were looking for. He even brought his own ladder to get in the attic. They were able to schedule for the following Monday to do the job. Contrary to most, they self-confessed that they are not the least expensive but then described the protection they offered and their service policies. The crew arrived Monday on time and worked through the day. They correctly took attic breaks and stayed hydrated so that they did no damage to themselves. The original time estimate was about 1.5 hours longer than actual – which we were grateful as it got the AC back on faster. They cleaned up after themselves very well.
John was on time and very professional. He explained step by step the process, and we would recommend him to anyone.

9/1/15My HVAC was leaking and I was dreading that it would be something expensive to fix. I called and got an appointment for the next morning. Josh came over and diagnosed one part and discovered it was working. He continued to diagnose the problem and he found that the drainage pipes were clogged. He fixed the problem and 4 days have passed with no further incidents. If you have a problem, you can trust that Kellam’s technicians like Josh will give you a solution.
Yearly maintenance contract on my business. They do a great job of servicing my HVAC system twice a year. They also service my water heater once a year. Scheduling and friendly reminders are done professionally. The tech showed up on time and ready to work. Tech (Peter) did not interfere with my customers or store.
On July 4th I had a loose wire from my air conditioning equipment that caused it to stop working. I was thrilled by the careful directions on how to fix it over the phone. Chris Hughes from Kellam Mechanical in Virginina Beach was patient, friendly and knowlegible and the system immediately restarted after I followed his directions on where to reattach the loose wire. He was willing to come out but allowed me to fix the problem immediately.
We moved into our home 2 years ago and were never told when we bought the house, the HVAC system had a transferable warranty. Luckily when our technician was looking at our system after we called when the AC went out, he went out of his way to do some research and discovered our system was covered by a warranty. We only had to pay the transfer of warranty fee and a regular service call fee and the remainder of the cost was covered by the warranty. We truly appreciated his extra effort and will continue to use the company for any future household needs.

My A/C went out last week just after those 100 days, I looked on Yelp to find top companies and found Kellam Mechanical Inc. which is also close to my house. The service lady scheduled a tech to come out the following day (Friday). I was out of town that day but my wife was there to show the tech the unit, he quickly found a bad part and replaced it but the computer was still giving an error. Further trouble-shooting for the compressor had a thermal problem. The company got the part on order (not locally stocked) and had us up and running Tuesday morning.

Dominion Resources offers a check-up of your heat pump for free by authorized technicians, we chose Kellam Mechanical. Excellent. The technician was on time. He worked in the attic and outside. He wore booties in the house. He answered questions. We filled out our part of the paperwork and he did his before he left. Very professional.

I just wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for your whole team at Kellam Mechanical. My wife and I were recently shopping to replace one of our old and worn out heating cooling systems. We contacted your office for an estimate and from that point on our experience has been nothing but superb. Mr. John Gualdoni the consultant that came to our home was exceptional. He explained everything thoroughly and answered our questions completely. After obtaining numerous estimates we decided that Kellam Mechanical was the obvious choice for the superior products offered and the personalized service that was promised. I had to work the day of the installation, and my wife was left to “supervise” the installation. The entire operation was smooth from the beginning to the end, with each step explained to my wife as the technicians went about their business. My wife is usually skeptical of having installers in our home, but said within minutes she felt at ease with Kellam’s technicians. She stressed how polite they were and respectful of our property and of her. They always told her when they were going to be going in and out of the house, and immediately cleaned up any messes they made, not waiting until the end of the day. They also seemed appreciative of the snacks and water she placed out for them. Mr. Gualdoni made stops throughout the day to check on progress. Overall the installation was a very positive experience for both my wife and myself.
About a week after the installation I was out of town for business and my wife took the opportunity to visit our Granddaughter in Charlottesville. On her return home after a few days she discovered the downstairs furnace (the one not replaced by Kellam) was not operating and there was no heat. It was projected for temperatures to be well below freezing that night. She could not reach me and worried about frozen pipes and other issues, did not know what to do or where to turn. Near tears she contacted Mr. Gualdoni and explained the situation. He told her not to worry that Kellam Mechanical would take care of it, and for her to relax and someone would contact her. My wife said the person that did contact her was the nicest and kindest person she had talked to in a long time. The dispatcher told her that one of their technicians would be at her home shortly and would call her from the truck and identify himself before he came to the door. Within an hour of my wife’s arrival home, Kellam Mechanical technician Josh did just that. Once inside he determined that the ignitor was broken and needed replacement. He explained everything about what was wrong and my wife authorized repairs. He obtained a new part and made those repairs. The old furnace was fixed and heat was restored to my home. My wife could not say enough about the positive experience she had during this process. She stated the Josh was extremely polite and made her feel comfortable about having him in her home. All in all, my wife’s very stressful situation was handled by your crew and everything was made right for her. For that I am grateful.
We will be replacing the second heating/cooling system this year and would not even think of going with anyone but Kellam Mechanical. It was an insurance claim due to a slab leak. I called Kellam Mechanical due to good reviews on Angie’s List. From the first visit to the last bit of clean up at the end, it was truly a pleasure working with Kellam. John was the first person I met with and he was very friendly and professional. They worked around my schedule and the other contractors that were fixing the rest of the crawlspace/slab leak with no issues. Once the removal of the old system was out they worked very hard to ensure it was replaced quickly due to the cold temps. The entire crew was clean courteous and very professional. Just a quick note to let you know how my NO heat issue on a super cold day went yesterday. I called you at 4:10pm, tech, “Chris” called me at 6:15pm, said he would get to the house by 6:45, he was right on time, found the problem quickly, got my heat on and backing out my driveway by 7:20pm.

Installed copper piping to bring gas to a new stove and also piped in gas to dryer, hot water heater, boiler and fireplace so that when these electric/oil appliances need to be replaced they can be easily hooked up to gas. Included pressure tests and all permits. The supervisor, John, was excellent. He and his team were very professional and knowledgeable and did an excellent job. Quality work!

Josh is one of many tech’s that Kellam Mechanical has on staff. He has performed several jobs for me and he is professional at all levels and does great work. He is very knowledgable about his work and makes sure he takes care of all areas of your house to keep them clean and looking good.
Last month kellam installed a new Air conditioner and heater. They arrived promptly at the time that was scheduled. The installation was complete in a professional manner and the clean up was superb. I will definitely recommend Kellam to my friends.
Monte came out to take a look at our mature heating system that had stopped working. He was punctual, professional, and polite. He immediately diagnosed the problem and the system was up and running in less than 15 minutes. He pointed out a couple of things that needed attention and left it to me to decide. He also noted that our system was a very well designed system and even though older, it was worth keeping in service. That kind of honesty goes a long way. Since our system is 20 years old it would have been very easy for him to say “time for replacement”. Glad Kellam has techs like Monte on their staff. Our A/C system is ready for replacement and we will give Kellam the first opportunity at designing and installing our new system.

I would like to commend the promptness and help your employee Chris Hughes provided to us. We had an old thermostat that your company put in when this house was built. It wasn’t working and finally I needed to call. He was 5 minutes away and was here in about 15 minutes. He checked the furnace and whatever he needed to do, and said I was right and he ordered a new one. The next day another young man (I forgot to get his name) came because Chris was busy. He replaced the thermostat and it works like it is supposed to. The two are an asset to your company.

They came to check the AC unit for the summer months. I have a yearly service contract with them. I have been using their service for around five years. They are very punctual. They always explain any problems they find to me.
I have known Sarah and Scott Kellam for a while now, and during that time I got to know how professional they were in business. When I decided to update our home system, I didn’t call anyone else but Kellam Mechanical. I was most concerned about getting a fair price. One not too cheap but reasonable. Their “Comfort Consultant” (as they refer to him) John Gualdoni, came out to the house and we discussed our needs. John let me know about some special pricing and rebates that may be available and made it clear we should not rush into anything until we see how he could save us money. That’s what I call… no pressure! I wanted to make sure to go with a company that had been around the block. One with a positive reputation and one that was going to be around after we did business. That was Kellam. I was excited that John found us a great price to fully meet our needs with an American Standard HVAC system. The installation took a few days but I was amazed at the end of each day how the crew cleaned up completely. It was like they hadn’t been there. My wife and I really appreciated that. During the installation, we had hired other companies to come in and do other work needed on the house. The difference between them and Kellam was like night and day. I wasnï’t impressed with any other company working on the house. Their work ethic was terrible but not Kellam . They treated my family like we were their family. When I had gone on the American Standard website I saw that Kellam was a preferred provider and that impressed me. I had a feeling that the price would be fair and the work and quality of equipment would be impressive. I was right! Overall I was surprised at my cost savings and how much lower my Dominion bill was after installation. Each month I’m saving. Depending on how old your system is, the costs of a new unit is so worth it over time. Before worrying about what it costs to replace your current HVAC system, compare that to what you’re throwing away on your old unit trying to keep it going. A new unit is more efficient, and will save you money each month on your bill.

I highly recommend Kellam Mechanical for your heating, cooling and electrical needs. I just recently had my annual maintenance inspection and Jerry W. was very professional and knowledgeable when it came to explaining the process and answering questions about the best filters to use.

An absolutely great job. Serviced two Trane heat pumps/air handlers. The technician, Chris, arrived a bit early and proceeded right to work. As he was performing his checks, he was quite informative and personable. I have never had a tech who went over and above as he did, especially with the outside units. I had a poor experience with the last company who worked on my units, so I was extremely pleased to see the time and effort Chris put into my units – they work, look, & run great! I was so impressed that, in a conversation with a neighbor walking his dog, I highly recommended Kellam & Chris for his house. I also called my daughter to let her know how well the visit proceeded.

I have used Kellam in the past and have always been very satisfied with the quality of their work. They arrived on time, completed the job and was friendly and helpful when asked about other electrical issues. Other companies I used prior to calling Kellam never fixed the problems to my satisfaction and caused new issues from their repair. I will only use Kellam for all future electrical needs.
Although I was not there when Jerry W. came for inspection, my husband, Bill, was very happy and impressed with his visit. He quickly & efficiently went about the tasks at hand. What we like about Kellam Mechanical is that we don’t have to wait all day for a technician to arrive. In most all inspections the technician has been at our home at the beginning of the time frame we were quoted. Jerry was no exception! I called Kellam Mechanical late on Friday Evening as my air conditioning went out the day before. Adam stated he would have someone out Saturday morning to look at our unit and also advised me they were not charging overtime service rates for the weekend.
Tommy arrived promptly the next morning and resolved our issue immediately. He even gave us advice on how to properly maintain our unit. He was very friendly, courteous and professional. But most of all, because of the service we received, we feel that Kellam is a very trustworthy company to work with.

Our beautiful new Heat Pump system was scheduled to be installed yesterday and today. It was completely installed by about 6 or 6:30 last evening with no signs that anyone had ever been hereï¿½except for this beautiful new A/C unit in our backyard that doesnï¿½t make a sound and the lovely cool temperatures both downstairs and upstairs.
Let me say that that my initial contact with Sarah Kellam was actually part of the reason why we hoped to ultimately work with Kellam. Sarah instantly made me feel l had known her forever ï¿½ like we were old friends and thatï¿½s an amazing feeling when youï¿½re getting ready to make such an important decision about your home and spend such a large amount of money.
The next person that my husband and I met was John G. John came to speak to us about what our goals were and to explain to us how Kellam might aid us in reaching those goals. John was also one of those people that you immediately felt like you had known for years. He answered every question we had and never once did we feel like we were asking something ridiculous or that we were wasting his time; he knows his products and knows how to deliver the information in an easy-to-understand way. We actually asked John to return to clarify some questions that had arisen after we had spoken to another contractor. There was no hesitation and the questions were answered and that night we made our decision to do business with Kellam Mechanical.
On the morning of May 27, DJ and Garrett, two of Kellamï¿½s crew members, stood at our front door ready to work. A little while later, Matt and Damien showed up. I have never seen a team work with such precision. Everyone had a role to play and it was carried out perfectly. At one point, we understand that Scott Kellam had stopped by, but unfortunately, we didnï¿½t have the opportunity to say hello. A man on a mission we understand.

Our home was undoubtedly cleaner after they left than when they came in. The removed the protective plastic they had placed on the stairs and vacuumed everywhere they had walked. We had terribly uneven heat in our home. Our master suite was at least 10 degrees hotter than the rest of our home. We had a maintenance contract with another local HVAC company. After months of frustration I called Scott Kellam upon a reference from a friend. Scott called me the same day and came to my house the next day to check out the problem. The very NEXT day he submitted 2 proposals which would solve the problems with our heat system. Scott brought his crew over on January 21 to start the project. Because of the projected snowstorm that day he added guys to his crew and they got the job ALMOST finished that day. They came in and immediately covered all the carpets with coverings. The guys working with Scott were polite, professional, and very knowledgeable in what they were doing. They worked together like clockwork and it was very impressive. The snowstorm precluded them from coming back the next day but Scott called to say they would finish Thursday. They all showed up early Thursday morning and finished by mid day. Before leaving they vacuumed the entire area and left the house immaculate. They also made sure I knew how to operate the programmable thermostat, etc.
The end of the story: the master suite temperature is PERFECT! The heat is distributed evenly and because of the extra ducts in the great room it is warmer in there also. They also increased the sizes of the duct work so the airflow is much greater. It is just so much more comfortable in our home.

We just had our air conditioner and heating system installed by your company and we just want you to know how satisfied we have been with your people. Ed Zednik was the person who came to our home when we called to get an estimate on having our air conditioner replaced since it had stopped working. He took the time to look at our air conditioning and heating system since it was 18 years old and the air conditioner was about 14 years old He gave us several optionsï¿½one for the air conditioner alone and two others for air and heat. He was friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable about our system and our requirements. He didnï¿½t rush us into a decision but made us see that we were better off to get both system replaced although we had not had any trouble with the furnace. He was enthusiastic about the good service we would get from the people at your company and how good your installers are. And he was correct. We couldnï¿½t have been happier. Ed was here when the installers arrived and introduced us to them and came back to make sure the area outside was clean. That meant a lot.
We got an estimate from one of your competitors as well and were not satisfied with the owner who came to our house. He had little to say and told us he would get back to us with an estimate. He sent an estimate through the mail and never once contacted us in person. Ed, on the other hand, made us feel comfortable, and took time to explain everything to us. He is an excellent representative and we will not hesitate to let our friends know about the service we received from your company.

10/18/13The service was outstanding in all respects from the initial evaluation and estimate by John to the installation and completion of the work by Monte. John listens to your needs and responds accordingly. They don’t try to sell you something that you don’t need. In my case, I was replacing a complete heat pump system at a rental property. I wanted to keep my costs down but also wanted a reliable unit. They recommended and installed a Goodman Heat Pump system which answered both of these needs. Monte was my installer and is the Senior Service Technician for Kellam. Not only does he do a professional installation, but he also takes the time to explain everything to the customer in an easily understandable manner. You won’t find another Monte anywhere. Don’t all ask for him at once. All the other companies have big advertising budgets and slick sales people but nobody can hold a candle to Kellam. Believe me because I have tried many of them over almost 40 years of living in this area.

We replaced two 14 year old Trane systems with a Climate Master Geothermal system and replaced a 14 year old gas water heater with a Navien on demand hot water unit.From start to finish our experience with Kellam Mechanical, Inc. was superb! There were a number of reasons as to why we chose to work with Kellam Mechanical, Inc. Price was not so much a factor as knowing for certain that we would be getting quality equipment installed by experienced installers with a company that has a solid reputation. The fact that Scott Kellam has a geothermal system installed in both his home and business were further evidence to us that we had found the right company for the job.
Scott has a fantastic installation crew, I wish now I had written down all their names to include them in this review. They were professional and very knowledgeable. We watched and asked a lot of questions along the way. They NEVER made us feel
as though we were in their way and they always answered our questions.
Everything went smoothly. The well drillers were in and out so quickly. We were told to be prepared for a big mess in our yard as they had to dig six wells. In the end, the mess was minimal and the grass grew over completely months ago.
We had heard so many positive things about geothermal systems and now we too can attest to the benefits of going geothermal. The most notable thing, lower utility bills aside, is the constant temperature throughout the entire house. In the past we would often have to adjust the heat and AC either upstairs, downstairs, or both throughout the day. NO more, the entire house has
been comfortable regardless of whether we are running the heat or AC.
We had a return installed in our room over the garage. Up until that return was installed the room was relatively unusable in the winter and summer. With the doors closed, that room easily read 10 degrees hotter or cooler than the rest of the home. Now with the return, regardless of whether the doors to the room are open or closed the temperature is within a degree or two of the rest of the house.
We also had a Navien on demand hot water unit installed. In the past we would have to run the master bath faucets or shower for what seemed like forever until the water would run warm. We had the Navien installed to speed up that process and thereby reduce water consumption. There was no guarantee that it would significantly reduce the wait time given the only location in the house available for them to install the unit was further from the master bath than preferred. However, the wait time for warm water has been greatly reduced and for that we are very pleased.
The installation from start to finish took close to two weeks, longer than anticipated but that was due to unpredictable
weather. Regardless, given everything that was done, it all happened very quickly. The well drillers and Kellam Mechanical, Inc. were in and out of our house in no time.
We are extremely pleased with Kellam Mechanical, Inc. and highly recommend them for your heating and cooling needs.

I wanted to thank all those involved at Kellam Mechanical who helped on my recent issues with my HVAC system.
Less than a year ago I had a new AC unit installed. There were a few complications involved with the installation while I was getting several different bids. John (from Kellam) was the only one to recognize that my current configuration was not optimal and should be changed. He was also the only one to convince me that I did not need a bigger system (up sell) and explained to me why. Although Kellam was not the lowest price (they were in the middle price range of three different bids), my wife and I decided they were our best choice to get the job done correctly. The installation was set up in a timely manner and it went off without a hitch. Now to the current issue….
About a month ago, I was sitting at my computer desk (in a converted garage on a slab where my air handler is) I felt the carpet was wet. As I investigated, I noticed it was coming from the Air handler. I thought it was simply the condensate drain and I could not get it to drain properly. So, I called Kellam and they sent someone out. Upon investigation, the technician did agree that the condensate drain was not draining properly, but also discovered that the New evaporator coil was leaking. He made a phone call and scheduled to have the evaporator replaced.
The next day, John (field supervisor, estimator) wanted to take a look at the system and scheduled to come over. What happened next is what sets Kellam apart from the rest….
When John arrived he immediately recognized a problem with the original install and set the wheels in motion to rectify the situation. Not only were they going to replace the evaporator coil, they were going to fix the drain problem by adding a pump. But that is not all….They were also going to replace the pedestal that the unit sits on. That would entail lifting the entire unit (downflow unit) re-adjusting all of the vents and ducts to the unit. This was no easy task and in itself would alleviate the drain problem because it would raise the unit and let gravity work. But they still insisted on installing the pump just to be sure.
The parts were ordered and the installation scheduled. A week later, after a full day of work the job was completed.
All in all, after a new evaporator (covered by warranty), a drain pump, new pedestal, and 12 man hours of labor moving the entire air handling unit, It cost us nothing!
All of the work was completely free because of Kellam Mechanicals Honesty and integrity to do what was right. They could have easily just installed the new evaporator under warranty and been done with it. But they didn’t and that is what matters to me the most. The entire staff was upfront and honest about everything and wanted to do nothing more than make their customer completely satisfied. This is what a business should be….
So, with that we say Thank You Kellam Mechanical!
After 30 years of service in the military I deeply respect core values with Honesty and Integrity being two of my favorites. Kellam Mechanical has upheld these core values to the fullest and should be proud of that. I highly recommend Kellam Mechanical to anyone else who holds these values close to their heart.

My wife just showed me our Dominion bill. While we´re on a monthly budget, the usage history for June of 2012 shows 2336 of kWh. June of 2013 with the new system shows 1908. That´s a drop of more than 400 kWh. Not sure what that would equate in a regular bill but it seems we made the right decision!

Sorry I missed your call today. Thanks for following up! All is well, we are very, very pleased. The heat is great, the house is warm all over, no need to be messing with the thermostat as before. The room over the garage is warm for the first time ever…cannot believe that it is within a few degrees of the rest of the house. Amazing what a return will do.
The hot water to the master bath is also better than expected. The line into the shower must be closer than originally thought because we have seen a definite decrease in the amount of time it takes the water to run hot.
So, I guess we are done 🙁 It’s been a pleasure working with all of you!

As you know, I have had a tankless hot water heater installed in my residence with completion yesterday. The final city inspection was completed today. Both of the city inspectors involved remarked as to the quality of the workmanship of the given installation, and promptly passed the inspections. Their remarks echo my own feelings about how professional the quality of the installation is.
It is my feeling that the best measure of a contractor is based on certain basic parameters: Do they commence work when they say they will?; Do they finish when they say they will?; Do they do what they say they will do?; Does the work adhere to current workmanship standards of the industry?; Does the contractor track the finer points and details to realize a \”complete\” and quality project? I have to give an emphatic yes on all counts with regard to your organization. Your technicians were top flight.
They were courteous, obviously competent, and very focused on the task at hand. The attitude projected showed a lot of commitment to doing a professional job. I think they were very successful in that regard.

We recently relocated to a townhome in Virginia Beach with an aging HVAC system and assumed the existing annual service contract with Kellam from the prior owners. Two weeks later we needed to make an emergency service call on a Saturday morning. Josh showed up and within hours had diagnosed the problem, located the necessary replacement parts and had us up and running that afternoon. The following week Adam came to review the service history and evaluate the overall system. Adam then arranged for John to visit and review the available options for upgrading the reliability & efficiency of the equipment. I am writing to thank you and your employees for the excellent service that they provided my family recently. On Thursday, June 28th 2012, my wife, Kim, called me at work to let me know that our air conditioner was not working. Since it was expected to be over 100 degrees on Friday she had a technician from another local HVAC company check it out on Friday. Needless to say the service was less than satisfactory. I called around to local shops and no one seemed to understand that we have an 18 month old child in the house that is approaching 90 degrees. Finally I had the pleasure of talking to Adam and that is when things began to turn around. Adam was able to help me out more than I could have expected over the phone and immediately dispatched John Gualdoni to our house. I knew we chose the right company when John arrived within 20 minutes of getting off of the phone with Adam. John immediately went to work with our estimate and told us exactly what we could expect. This part is what my wife and I expected from a business, what we did not expect was the extra mile that John went to make sure that we got exactly what we needed. John walked us through the process, paperwork, and even explained to your company the situation with our 18 month old and the urgency of our situation. Johnï¿½´s hard work was greatly appreciated and above and beyond what simply giving us an estimate, you should know that he is a superb representative of your company. I am happy to say that John´s work was quickly overshadowed by the level of professionalism that your employees showed when they arrived to actually install our unit. Garrett, Dean, Matt, and Damien arrived at our house at about noon the same day, less than an hour after we placed our order with John. They immediately went to work and made what looked like an impossible task happen within 3 hours. Their experience and workmanship is beyond measure. Not once did I see them standing around or hear them complaining despite the temperature being over 100 degrees outside and over 90 degrees inside. After they completed their work the only way I could tell that they had been at the house was that the air conditioner was working, there was no mess at all. The work of these four guys alone has made us a customer of Kellam mechanical for life; I cannot thank them enough for their hard work. If I needed any more convincing that I made the right choice, I received a phone call on Monday, three days AFTER your technicians completed their work, with an estimate from the company that we called the first time. They said that they could be out on Friday to fix our unit for about the same price that Kellam replaced our entire unit. When I told them that Kellam Mechanical already replaced the unit the same Friday that this company was out to my house and told me it could not be done, he did not believe me. Apparently it is impossible for their company to complete the work that you did in the timeframe that you did. I would like to thank your technicians and John again for their hard work, and you should know that they alone have guaranteed that Kellam will be my first call from now on.

Their estimate was very competitive, I received 3 different estimates from local companies and they were very reasonable. Adam was awesome from the get-go. He had a great personality during the initial estimate and really knew his product. The small family-owned business feeling was great and everyone worked together so well and had much respect for each other. Adam was upfront and honest about what needed to be done and even helped with items to include in the estimate that I didn’t even think of (since it’s an insurance claim due to hurricane flooding- I needed to be sure I was thorough). Adam even brought out 2 crews on the first day to be sure that the project was completed ahead of schedule. Kellam replaced our entire central A/c system, including the condenser, evaporator, and all the duct work. They also installed a dedicated circuit breaker for the new unit, and relocated and replaced the thermostat..
When we decided to replace our old, broken down A/C system, we got quotes from several companies, based on their reviews on Angie’s list. Although we’d never dealt with them in the past, one we called for an estimate was Kellam Mechanical, because they had an excellent rating. I’m so glad we did!
I can’t say enough good things about these guys, or the company as a whole. Mike Clark, who did the estimate, is an excellent representative of the company. He was thorough, professional, and took the time to explain all our options, and answer all our questions. On the day the installation was scheduled, he was there bright and early to make sure the technicians had a clear understanding of what was to be done, and that everything would go smoothly. His obvious belief in the company, and its professional integrity, was what ultimately convinced us to award Kellam the job.
The technicians were here exactly on time, got right to work, and were so proficient at what they were doing, it all went like clockwork. We also had a very large, old oil furnace that had to removed from a cramped crawlspace, and they made what should have been a very difficult job, look easy. They were very considerate about making sure they didn’t leave a mess in the house, and all the debris from under the house (old ductwork and the old furnace they’d removed) was wisked away on a pick-up truck that appeared precisely when they needed it. They took it away so fast, I never even saw it! The technicians on the job were professional, courteous, and diligent. The work was completed in less time than anticipated, and the system works perfectly.
I spent about 15 years working for local commercial HVAC contractors and, I have to say, I have never seen such excellent organization, professionalism, and overall commitment to customer satisfaction, as was demonstrated by all the members of Kellam Mechanical whom I came in contact with. I strongly recommend you call Kellam Mechanical if you need HVAC or electrical work done. That’s exactly what I’m going to do. After being disappointed by so many contracting companies in the past, it was so refreshing to find one that’s committed to doing quality work at a fair price. Great job, guys!

We wanted to write a letter to commend you on the excellent service you supplied us as you planned and installed both our new geothermal heat pump systems and the Rinnai hot water system. As you know, we had a recommendation from a friend for another company with whom they were well satisfied. We had that company come and plan and give us a bid. Initially we thought we would go with the other company because of the high recommendation they had received from our friend. However, when we had you come out to do a plan and give us a bid, we easily decided you were the company whom we wanted to do our job. We are confident we made the right decision!

Good Morning Scott – As you know, I am a new Kellam Mechanical customer living in Texas who owns a home in Va Beach. I had a guest staying at my home the past two days and the new heating system would not come on. After trying to trouble shoot the problem with her long distance over the phone last night, I called Jodi this morning at 7:15 a.m. She assured me she would do her best to have someone at my house this morning before my guest left at 11:00 a.m. When I called my guest to see if she had heard from Jodi, Dean was at my house, had determined the problem (an installation issue), and had corrected it by 9:00 a.m. When you and I spoke on the phone in September while I was home for a visit, you told me that customer service was one of your biggest priorities. I wanted to say that the service staff members who helped this morning have delivered 110 percent, and they are an excellent representation of your leadership and expectations. I am most appreciative because there was an employee at work at 7: 15 a.m. to answer my call who followed through immediately and a trained technician who was able to resolve the problem quickly. In my instance, your insistence on excellent customer service is apparent. I hope your day goes well and I wish for you so many stories like mine that you won’t have time to read them. AND while I am at it – I’m not sure I ever properly thanked you for having the upgraded thermostat installed in September; I am most grateful for that as well. Kellam Mechanical is the best. We have a problem house. It is a large ranch that was tripled in size back in the 70s and our air conditioning system was that old. There is no crawl space and very little attic space with cathedral ceilings throughout. First problem we had was that our air conditioner that was cooling our kitchen, dining area and den area was located in the ceiling. The day we moved in (about 6 years ago), the ceiling collapsed because the air conditioner was leaking. The draining system for the unit was a mess that kept getting plugged up. We had to stop using it. We had another air conditioner in the ceiling that worked but you couldn’t get to if you needed work done on it. Apparently they put the air conditioner in and then built the addition around it without thinking that it might have to be replaced one day. Our heating system is a boiler but the radiators don’t go through the entire house. The areas that didn’t have radiators had radiant heat in the ceilings which barely worked at all.
I realize now why people would buy our house and sell it after 2 years. They couldn’t figure out what to do with the heating and cooling system. I had heating and cooling people come in and one person took a look around and said I can¥’t figure out what to do with your house and then a few days later sent us an outrageous quote to update our system. Probably gave us a high quote because they didn’t want to deal with it. I had a few others come that offered high quotes. They didn’t seem to understand the house and gave me no confidence they could do the job.
In my frustration, I started doing research and thought that maybe we could go with a ductless mini split system since our problem is no crawl space and limited attic space. Our friends gave us the number for a couple of guys that did their house. They came and looked at our house and thought they could do it but never called us back and wouldn’t return our calls. I called one place that I found on the internet that was advertised having experience with this system but they didn’t know how to install it and recommended Kellam.
Mike from Kellam came to our house and he was so nice. He told us he wasn’t sure what to recommend but he wanted the owner (Scott) to come and take a look and see what he could come up with. I was really impressed with that.
Scott came a couple of days later and went through our entire house. He talked to my husband Les and hashed out a plan. We decided to do the mini split in the living room. To take care of the leaking air conditioner in the ceiling, we decided to put the new one in the large closet in the hallway. I didn’t want it in the ceiling anymore in case it leaked. We had ductwork in the kitchen but needed to figure out a way to duct it into our dining room and den which is cathedral ceiling with no attic space. Les asked if they could run the duct work across the center beam and build a box around it to conceal it. He said sure plus he had a carpenter that did work like that for him. Next he looked at our bedroom which also had a ceiling air conditioner.
We decided to also put that one in a large closet adjacent to our bedroom.
Scott came back to our house after analyzing everything and gave us a written estimate with different options to choose which I thought was great.
This was a huge project and I thought his estimate was very reasonable considering the work that needed to be done. We decided all units would be heat pumps to eliminate the boiler (gas was getting outrageous). The mini split was installed in the living room. This is a fantastic system. The bedroom unit was installed and the guy that did the duct work (I’m sorry that I forgot his name) was on his stomach installing for 3 days because the area was so tight in the ceiling…excellent job. The unit to cool the kitchen, dining room and den was installed and the duct work was run across the center ceiling beam. The carpenter Phil built a box around it with opening for the vents. He did an excellent job and it looks like part of the house. We were so happy we had him replace the cooling system in the older (original part) of our house with a heat pump too. That is 4 systems installed and my utility bills are way down and no more outrageous gas bills. I am so happy that we found Kellam.

I would like to thank Kellam for excellent work performed this weekend at my residence. The work was to replace a coil identified in a York service bulletin. This action stemmed from problems we have had all winter. The York heat pump worked fine to 2 years or so. This winter it would not maintain heat. After looking into this by the vendor that installed the unit, several attempts were made to correct the issue. First it was identified that the “heating coils” were not connected. After the coil was connected, there were other problems. The vendor came out several times along with a York rep (not at the same time). No one knew what to do. Several attempts were made, the last adjusting a plenum (based on another York service bulletin), made no difference. Along came John Mcfadden. He not only replaced the coil, he immediately identified the problem. While they prepared the system for recharging, he went ahead and added the extra necessary wire and made the necessary connection to fix the original problem. He said they had to wait anyway, besides it was an extremely easy thing to add the wire since it was outside and only about 25ft and he had to do some rewiring because of the coil change. He also made an adjustment where he identified the original vendor charged the system too much. He stated for our short run, we only needed about 9 lbs of refrigerant. He said that overcharging could damage the compressor. So not only did he do the York repair, he fixed my original problem. Both John and Joe (his partner) were pleasant to work with. John was obviously well trained and experienced. He was quick, clean and professional with the coil replacement. I just can’t say enough about John and Joe. You have a new customer when I will need services in the future. I will also recommend Kellam to anyone looking for York or other HVAC equipment services.

I would like to personally thank you and your employees for the fantastic job they did installing my new IN2 Networks ecoConcierge device. I am up and running and loving the functionality it gives me to control the temperature in the house remotely and through the internet. I have showed it to numerous friends and family and they are as impressed as I am excited.
As a second home we often set the temperature back (or up in the summer) a large amount and when we show up to adjust the temperature it can often take a long time to get comfortable. With the ecoConcierge we can adjust the temperature the day before and when we arrive it’s perfect! And as is more often the case when we leave and forget to set the thermostat back we can now simply log-in online and adjust the temperature so that we save energy. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve left the house on a much cooler temperature because we didn’t want to experience the heat next time we arrived or how many times we’ve forgotten to adjust the thermostats before we’ve left in winter only to have to pay heating bills for when we’re not there. We’ve even threatened friends who stay there that we can make them uncomfortable if they don’t behave – just joking we’d never do that!
I must finally commend your professional and friendly employees, in particular John McFadden. Once the system was installed he set-up and configured the entire system on his laptop. All I had to do was register it with the internet access provider and voila I’m controlling the temperature from anywhere with an internet connection. Unlike almost every contractor I’ve had in my home the house was left just as clean as when your team arrived.

I know that people are quick to complain when a company disappoints but I want to tell you what a wonderful experience I had with your company. I made the mistake of having a different company install my Apollo hot water heater and have had one problem after another. I turned to you to install my air conditioner. This past Sunday, in the aftermath of the cold and snow, I woke up to not heat. Lance Gray came out to diagnose the problem. Realizing that I had no heat or hot water and with the chance of busted pipes, he called Bobby Starling for back up. I can’t say enough about how wonderful they both were! Not only were they knowledgeable and kept me informed with what they were doing, they were neat, respectful and very kind. They went far “above and beyond” to make sure that I was safe and warm by the time they left. I just wanted you to know how pleased I am with the new heating and air conditioning system that Kellam Mechanical installed under my home. I had no idea that my thirty nine year old system was in such a bad state of deterioration. The pictures you showed me after crawling underneath the house were quite graphic. When I saw the ducting partially laying on the ground and devoid of the majority of its insulation I realized it was time to replace the whole system.
The crew from Kellam Mechanical showed up right on time at 8:30 with four really nice young men. They were all finished by 3:30 and had completely removed all of the old ducting materials. Except for the improved air flow you wouldn’t know anyone had been here. On my first bill from Dominion Power I had used 300 kilowatts less than the same month last year. Our very first appointment with Kellam Mechanical and Electrical was a pleasure. The technician pulled into our driveway at the very instant that he said he would. He examined our system and suggested a few temporary fixes that we could implement to get us through the summer and allow us time to reinforce our financial situation.
My family and I purchased a new house in Virginia Beach during 2000. From the very beginning, we experienced an almost non-stop series of problems with our heating and air conditioning system. Being new to the area, we didn’t know who to call and therefore we tried a non-stop series of companies to try and rectify the problems. As stated before, we had no idea where to start, so we started by looking up heating and air conditioning service companies in the Yellow Pages. Every company that we called acted like they were doing us a favor by even appearing at our house. We even had companies confirm service appointments and then not show up. After we had been in our house a few years, a friend of ours recommended to us that we should try Kellam Mechanical and Electrical.
Our very first appointment with Kellam Mechanical and Electrical was a pleasure. The technician pulled into our driveway at the very instant that he said he would. He examined our system and suggested a few temporary fixes that we could implement to get us through the summer and allow us time to reinforce our financial situation. We agreed that our system was dying a slow and painful death and needed replacement. We agreed that within our two zone system, the priority was to replace the downstairs unit first.
Approximately nine months later, Kellam Mechanical and Electrical representative, Mr. Adam Cook was invited to our home to look at our system and recommend a course of action. Mr. Cook was incredibly professional, polite and knowledgeable. Mr. Cook examined our system and suggested a couple of plans. He allowed us time, free of any sales pressure to determine for ourselves the best course of action. The first step in each one of the plans was replacement of our defective downstairs air conditioning unit.
On the day the work was scheduled to begin, neither my wife nor I was available to watch over the work being performed by Kellam Mechanical and Electrical and Mr. Cook was not available because he was in Richmond, VA attending a training class. When I got home from work and went outside to look at my new air conditioning unit, I was horrified to discover that the technicians had replaced the wrong unit. Immediately my mind went racing and I thought that we had just lost a large portion of our savings account with nothing to show for it. I immediately called Kellam Mechanical and Electrical and informed them of the mistake. I was immediately connected with the owner, Mr. Scott Kellam. Mr. Kellam immediately apologized, admitted the mistake and assured me that he would take care of us. Mr. Kellam further stated that the basis of his company’s success is their belief in the value of each individual costumer. Mr. Kellam stated that he would absorb the cost and replace the remaining air conditioning unit with a brand new one at no additional cost to us. True to the word of Mr. Kellam, technicians arrived the next morning and did indeed replace the other air conditioning unit at no additional cost to us.
I would like to emphasize to the reader how refreshing it was to work with Kellam Mechanical and Electrical. Every single employee of theirs that I have been in contact with has been courteous, professional and polite. They exemplify the hard work and honest ethics that our great nation was built upon and I highly encourage any person seeking a quality heating and air conditioning solution to contact Kellam Mechanical and Electrical. Thank you for the great work and fast responses on the trouble calls for 2nd floor temp control wiring. Your technician did a good job tracing out the problem. His persistence was professional. He is not only a gentleman but laughs at my jokes. Your crew are good and hard workers, especially your crew supervisor. The layout obstacles that came about due to rafter design and location were handled absolutely awesome. All went well and even turned out better considering the difficult task. Your crew also left the jobsite cleaned up after a days work and in between days. All in all it was a pleasure. These days it is hard to find a contractor who shows up on time or just shows up. While visiting my daughter’s (Joanna Washburn) home in Virginia Beach in 2004, I discovered the heating system was inoperable. A call was made to your office and within an hour or two, your technician and his associate were at the door and ready to work. They very quickly and efficiently diagnosed the problem and had the system operating. They went one step further and thoroughly inspected the entire system and “fine tuned” the system. Such professionalism, courtesy and service are greatly appreciated. You set the standard and I wish other service industries were one-half as outstanding as Kellam Mechanical.

We would like to thank you and your staff for the great service we received on the installation of my new Trane dual fuel system. We do not think we have ever been so impressed with the service we received. You assisted me with getting the correct unit for our home, your people came to remove the old unit and install the new unit THREE days earlier than expected (which was great!).
I would like to especially commend your technicians that removed the old and installed the new unit. They were the hardest working most efficient people I have had the pleasure to watch work in a long, long time. It was like a symphony the way they worked together and they left no stone unturned. I want to share with you our experience with Kellam Mechanical. We recently purchased our retirement home in Sandbridge with the intent of moving in the near future. We knew we needed to replace the existing HVAC system on the main floor and the baseboard heating and window A/C on the ground floor. Kellam Mechanical was recommended by Brian Davis, a contractor in the Sandbridge area. We also asked for a bid from the company we have used over the years to maintain our current heating and cooling system.
Adam Cook, the advisor for Kellam Mechanical, was by far the more knowledgeable and thorough in his evaluation of our needs. He left “no stone unturned” and is the reason we chose Kellam Mechanical.
We completely gutted the old system including the ductwork and replaced it with the system recommended by Kellam Mechanical. Adam paid careful attention to all of the nuances of the installation such as adding another air intake panel for the most efficient air flow and draft reduction.
All of the men working at the house, Bobby, Dean, Sherman, Lance, George, John James – the electrician, Troy, Norman and John, treated our home and my family with the utmost respect and were very patient with my unending litany of questions.

I am writing to thank you and your employees for the excellent service that they provided my family recently. On Thursday, June 28th 2012, my wife, Kim, called me at work to let me know that our air conditioner was not working. Since it was expected to be over 100 degrees on Friday she had a technician from another local HVAC company check it out on Friday. Needless to say the service was less than satisfactory. I called around to local shops and no one seemed to understand that we have an 18 month old child in the house that is approaching 90 degrees. Finally I had the pleasure of talking to Adam and that is when things began to turn around. Adam was able to help me out more than I could have expected over the phone and immediately dispatched John Gualdoni to our house. I knew we chose the right company when John arrived within 20 minutes of getting off of the phone with Adam. John immediately went to work with our estimate and told us exactly what we could expect. This part is what my wife and I expected from a business, what we did not expect was the extra mile that John went to make sure that we got exactly what we needed. John walked us through the process, paperwork, and even explained to your company the situation with our 18 month old and the urgency of our situation.
